Macbeth

April, 2019

William Shakespeare is an incredibly famous poet, and playwright. He wrote a great deal of plays in London, but oddly enough, almost nothing is known about the man himself, save a baptismal document and a marriage license. One of the more famous plays that he wrote, Macbeth. This play centers around Macbeth and his wife, a lord and lady in Scotland. Macbeth is jealous for the throne, and soon opportunities arise that allow him to take hold of the throne with both hands, and some help from some extremely terrifying old women. Will Macbeth overcome the guilt of his conscience and lead Scotland with an iron fist, or will he eventually succumb to it?

Shakespeare focuses on the themes of supernaturalism, violence and manhood. “And oftentimes, to win us to our harm, The instruments of darkness tell us truths, Win us with honest trifles, to betray’s In deepest consequence.” “Fair is foul, and foul is fair; Hover through the fog and filthy air.” “We have scorched the snake, not killed it.” “Blood will have blood.”
