And Then There Were None
September, 2019
Written in 1939, And Then There Were None provides readers with a tantalizing view at life in England among the rich. Ten guests are invited to a dinner party on an island, and one by one they begin to dwindle. The question throughout the book is, who commits the murders if there are only the ten characters on the small island? Agatha Christie brilliantly captivates her audience, and leaves you on the edge of your seat for nearly the whole book. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel, and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to read an exciting book.
A few of the major themes in the book are guilt and justice. Here are some quotes from the book that demonstrate those themes; “Crime is terribly revealing. Try and vary your methods as you will, your tastes, your habits, your attitude of mind, and your soul is revealed by your actions.” “Be sure thy sin will find thee out.” “This is no time for refusing to look facts in the face.”
